The Balzac armchair and ottoman by Matthew Hilton was launched by SCP in 1991. It was SCPās very first upholstery design. Initially, the design was met with little fanfare, but within a few years its curvaceous looks, modernist sensibility and undoubted comfort had caught the design worldās imagination. It went on to become SCPās signature piece and bestseller. The three-seat sofa is an extension of the design.
