Cobra table light
Designed by Greta M. Grossman in the 1950's, the Cobra table lamp takes its name from the snake’s neck which is playfully resembled by its oval shade.///
Description
Cobra is an extremely practical table light, with a slender flexible arm that can move in all directions, allowing the shade to be adjusted through 360 degrees. It is well suited to being used to illuminate a desk, or as a reading light in a living space or bedroom.
Swedish born Grossman was greatly influenced by European modernism and the Bauhaus movement, developing a design language which would underpin mid-century Californian Modernism. Thanks to its pioneering design, the Cobra Table Lamp won the Good Design Award shortly after its conception and was exhibited at MoMA in New York.
