The name ‘Mariposa’, meaning butterfly in Spanish, refers to the sofa panels' wing-like motion. Thanks to a concealed mechanism, the slim side and back elements can be individually adjusted – continuously and silently – from an upright position to an outward angle of approximately 30° and back again. They offer resistance to only move when intentional pressure is applied, allowing the sitter to determine their optimum position. 

Mariposa's deep seat and plump cushions are well suited to socialising, reading and relaxing. It is a functional and stylish sofa ideal for modern family homes.

Designed by Edward Barber & Jay Osgerby for Vitra, the 2.5-seater sofa is well-suited to medium-sized living spaces.

Materials
Structural frame: webbed metal frame with polyurethane foam. Seat cushions: polyurethane and visco foams with chamber cushion overlay. Chamber cushion overlay filled with feathers and PU rods. Back and armrest cushions: chamber cushion filled with stripped-quill feathers and PU rods. Glides: plastic glides with levelling adjustment. Covers: removable. Range of use: recommended for residential use only.
