Mezzadro is a springy metal stool with a bright lacquered seat and wooden base. It is a playful piece and iconic example of Italian furniture design.///Description
First designed by brothers Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni designed in 1957, Mezzadro was put into production by Zanotta in 1970  for the exhibition âShapes and colours in todayâs homesâ organised in Villa Olmo in Como.Â
Bringing to mind the bright colours of pop art, and the combination of craft-based and industrial components utilised by Duchamp, Mezzadro is as much a functional piece as it is a sculpture. It aims to redefine the domestic environment through bold shapes, materials and colours.
Materials
Chromium-plated steel stem. Seat lacquered in the colours: orange, red, yellow, white or black. Footrest in steam-treated beech, natural colour.
