When used as fixed lighting, which could be on a bedside table, between books on a shelf or on an office desk, the dual functionality allows direct connection to a power supply with a USB cable, and even if the batteries are not inserted, the lamp will work perfectly.
If used as a moveable lamp, SOWDEN supplies two 18650 2600mAh Li-ion rechargeable batteries making the lamp convenient in places where electrical connections are not easily available - this gives the possibility to take light safely anywhere indoors or outdoors.
The SOWDEN branded 18650 2600mAh Li-ion rechargeable batteries are easily fitted and are replaceable whenever needed. They can be swapped with fully charged ones rather than relying on recharging with the USB ā for example, in restaurants changing the battery can be done quickly, and customers are never left in the dark.
The PL2 has three dimmer settings, controlled by tapping the top of the Sowden LightDisc. The shade is removable for easy cleaning. It charges via USB (cable included) for four hours of light at maximum brightness when fully charged.
PL2 is part of a series of Lamps developed by SOWDEN. The collection comprises Suspension, Table and Floor models as well as a family of dual functionality designs suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. The idea took shape in 2020 when Sowden, while working on another project, discovered the extraordinary potential and ability to diffuse light through soft silicone; a non-toxic material that is easy to clean, stands up to impact and conserves its aesthetic qualities without ever showing signs of ageing. Hence the development of the design of various shapes and colours that when assembled in various ways, give life to the multiple configurations of the collection. The silicone sets the lamps apart even before you turn them on; the colours and proportions are reshaped during use, spreading soft, comfortable light.
